My Client is has over 15 operations in various countries, as well as several exploration programmes in both the established and new gold producing regions of the globe.

Relevant degree/diploma

Experience

5 years relevant experience, which includes the following:

  • Corporate social responsibility (with a focus on community issues and impacts)
  • Community issues (e.g. stakeholder engagement, socio-economic development, conflict resolution, human rights)
  • Non-financial assurance of community-related key performance indicators, risks and opportunities
  • Development and review of social or community related policies, performance standards and guidelines
  • International good practice in extractive industry and community development
  • Knowledge of mine lifecycle and relevant associated impacts and opportunities (particularly in gold mining) will be an advantage

Competencies:

  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organised, with the ability to prioritise and good time management skills

  • Proficiency in languages other than English namely French, Portuguese, Spanish and Swahili will be an advantage

Duties:

  • Development and rollout of community-focused, policies, standards, procedures and guidelines
  • Participation in multidisciplinary review with specific focus on social/community risks and impacts
  • Review social risks and opportunities
  • Provide advice and support to regions regarding the development of appropriate mitigation measures
  • Support regional management in the identification of key risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Influence Community management frameworks and strategies
  • Research and inform the development of Company objectives and targets for social performance
  • Enhancement and implementation of the Company's accountability system and processes, e.g. quarterly board reports, annual sustainability reports and other reports to stakeholders as required
  • Provide professional advice, guidance, technical support and facilitation assistance, to regions
  • Develop and manage discipline budget and work plans
  • Identify and establish cross-functional relationships within the Company to advance the social/community strategy
  • Represent the Company at local and international stakeholder forums
