Chief Rock Engineer - Gold Mining Industry

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Have a Grade12 qualification.
  • Have a COM Rock Engineering Certificate
  • Be literate in computer modeling software.
  • Have At least 5 years experience as a Rock Engineer
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and, if necessary, pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test.

Advantageous:

  • GDE
  • Advanced certificate in Rock Engineering.
  • Experience in massive mining rock engineering applications, including backfill.
  • Have a degree in Mining Engineering/Science or related discipline.
  • Familiar with MAP 3D.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing effective underground support systems
  • Providing Rock Engineering input for trackless mining sections
  • Providing safe mining layout, and extraction and backfill sequences
  • Assist in mine design and layout.
  • Undertake numerical modelling of working areas
  • Training and coaching staff
