Engineering Manager

An exciting opportunity exists for an Engineering Manager to coordinate and direct the maintenance team at an opencast mine in the Northern Cape, directing the integration of technical activities. The successful candidate will manage the overall performance of the plant and equipment ensuring maximum availability and efficiency to achieve production targets

Minimum Requirements

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering speciality field, such as mechanical, electrical,
• Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or Engineering Management (MEM) will prove advantageous
• GCC Mines highly advantageous
• Experience
• Must have at least 3 years engineering management experience - mine/plant
• Preferably experience as an Engineering Manager in the mining/minerals sector

Job Responsibilities

• Confer with management, production, and mining staff to discuss project specifications and procedures
• Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities
•  Analyse technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects
• Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment
• Direct, review, and approve product design and changes
• Recruit engineers of various disciplines; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence
• Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of research contracts
• Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates
• Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients
• Administer planning, construction, and maintenance
• Direct the engineering of water control, treatment, and distribution projects
• Confer with, and report to, officials and the public to provide information and solicit support for projects
• Manage engineering functions in all disciplines and supervision of Engineers
• Management of production operations and engineering standards
• Management of engineering and capital budgets
