Intermediate Automation Engineer/Technologist (Controls)

We are currently seeking an Intermediate Automation Engineer/ Technologist (Controls) for our Edmonton office.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Controls design support to multidisciplinary teams on maintenance and expansion projects.
• Basic design/specification and detailed design of Control systems including control narratives, C&E, panel layouts, loop drawings, and P&ID's.
• Proficient in programming DCS and /or PLC systems. Telecommunications experience is an asset.
• Create CWP packages including scope of work and drawings and perform interdisciplinary reviews.
• Able to liaison with Client's during project meetings, HAZOP's, and adhere to Client standards.
• Able to prepare man-hour estimates and capital costs for small to medium size projects.
• Participate in project planning and execution.
• Commission systems on site and perform FAT/SAT's as required.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following:

• A minimum of 5 years past experience in Controls within an EPC environment and a complete understanding of the engineering documents associated with controls such as: P&ID's, loop sheets, panel layouts, control narratives, logic diagrams, etc.
• Experience in oil/gas, mining, pulp/paper, and thermal power generation is an asset.
• A 2 year diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology or Engineering Degree is required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Reporting and Location:

• This position is located in Edmonton, Alberta.
• Position reports to the Automation Department Manager.
