We have 4 new positions available for experienced Belt Splicers so let's get to the facts.


Most of the work is in and around the Bowen Basin.

Essentials to be considered for these jobs:

• Cert III Rubber min trade qualified splicer
• A good amount of experience with all forms of Splicing and fitting all forms of belts. Steel cord, solid woven and fabric ply. We are not going to say you need x amount of years on the job BUT you must be completely proficient. This is not a learn on the job situation, we need you to know your stuff.
• Strong knowledge of conveyor systems, products, maintenance issues and weaknesses.
• You need to be a good enough splicer to show and coach others without passing on bad habits. Checking and predicting safety issues and keeping site safety your number one priority. Calculating steps, providing estimates of time, and recommending a course of action to prevent failure. All the things you would expect of a good Belt Splicer with a professional attitude.
• Dogging ticket (intermediate) plus the usual rigging skills
• Current clean drivers licence, fork truck licence, preferably HR licence
• Be able to pass medical and drug clearances if required (site specific)
• BMA/SGS induction
• Qld generic coal induction (surface)

On the Job:
You will be performing the usual Belt splicing jobs and expected to know how to plan, perform and complete things like:

• Carry out belt audits
• Identifying common belt problems and faults and work out the best method of repair
• Plan all safety & equipment requirements
• Removing and replacing belts and conveyor components as necessary
• Carry out hot & cold splicing
• Safely operate winches, winders, hoists etc. as required
• Pulley lagging, applying clips
• Writing reports on work done and work required plus effectively communicating safety, site, plant & equipment issues to the relevant people clearly.
