Commodity & Services Manager (Upper D level)

Job Details

Purpose:

• To manage the supply of strategic Mining Commodities as well as site related services to the company’s Family of Companies (FoC) in order to ensure maximum benefit and value add, in line with the organisation’s strategic needs.
• Lead, co-ordinate and participate in cost saving initiatives in order to achieve agreed earned value targets

Ensuring the effectiveness of group contracts by

• Integrating client and technical requirements with business objectives
• Benchmarking both pricing and commodity performance of strategic commodities against industry peers
• Increasing group-wide contract expenditure
• Reviewing supplier performance and contractual compliance regularly
• Managing strategic supplier relationships
• Lead and contribute towards the development of TCO models
• Ensure that stated Preferential Procurement targets are achieved
• Manage the relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the attainment of benefits to the FoC
• Negotiate and manage high value and production critical strategic commodity and service contracts - including amendments, price adjustments and general contract administration

Inherent Requirements:

• A commercial/engineering degree; BTech in Supply Chain Management or equivalent
• 3-5 year relevant experience
• Experience in savings initiatives is necessary
• Utilization of a formal methodology/process for sourcing activity is an advantage
• Experience in the leadership and management of people is required
• It is advantageous to have experience in a range of different commodities
• Specific experience in Drill, Blast, Load and Haul commodities is more advantageous
• A good understanding of Mining/Ore Extraction will be an advantage
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Quality management - ability to set standards, processes, services and systems
• Relationship building skills
• Strong focus on innovation and Continuous Business Improvement
• The ability to act autonomously and deliver in different circumstances, clients, industries is critical
