Job Description
We are hiring a number of Tailings Heavy Equipment Operators with a range of experience for our Kearl Oil Sands Operations on a fly in, fly out rotational schedule out of Edmonton or Calgary. Reporting to a Mine Tailings Supervisor, these positions are responsible for the operation of heavy equipment in a fully functional oil sands operation.
Responsibilities:
• Ability to learn and understand detailed tailings deposition plans and strategies
• Construction, maintenance and operation of tailings pipe line systems
• Duties also include equipment operation, ground work and other tasks as assigned
• Work rotating 12 hours day/night shifts in a 24/7 operation
• Participate in all Safety, Health and Environment programs

Special Requirements
• Able to operate side booms, loader with grapple attachment and tailings cell dozers
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a safe and efficient manner
• Adhere to all safety, health and environment policies and procedures
• Desire to learn and train in all aspects of tailings deposition, including heavy equipment operation
• Participate in all required training
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to work in a team environment
• Ability to build good, respectful working relationships
• Basic computer skills
• Minimum Grade 12 required or equivalency (GED – General Education Development)
• Valid Driver’s license
• Pre-site training will be conducted at the Kearl site. The designated rotation schedule will be a 10 day in and 10 day out with a 12 hour shift
• This position is designated as Safety Sensitive under the company’s Alcohol & Drug policy and will require a pre-employment certification process
5 years related experience preferred in a mine/tailings environment or pipelining
