Heap Leach Metallurgist

Our client, a FTSE 100 company and a fully integrated copper producer with a significant number of mines in Central Asia requires a Heap Leach Metallurgist for a 3000 mtph base metal project. The process will initially involve a heap leach electro-winning plant to process oxide ore but will subsequently involve a conventional crushing/grinding/flotation circuit. Initially based in Perth but later in Kazakhstan the Heap Leach Metallurgist will be responsible for:

• Assisting in the final design & commissioning of the Heap Leach/Electro-winning plant. 
• Monitoring, recording and optimising the performance of the Plant 
• Managing the day to day metallurgical activities related to reporting procedures, plant performance, implementation and improvements, testing and staff training. 
• Providing technical advice to both maintenance and operation teams, along with developing and maintaining databases, reports and monthly statistics. 

Applicants should have:

• Tertiary qualifications in a mineral process engineering discipline. 
• A minimum of 5 years experience in large scale Heap Leach/Electrowinning operations 
• Prior experience in an overseas role would be an advantage. 
• Russian language skills would be an advantage. 

This is a permanent role with residential or Fly in Fly out (8/2) options. The residential roles are based in Almaty, an attractive city with many modern facilities. Subsidised married/single accommodation is available and the Fly in Fly out roster to site is 9/5. Leave is 4 weeks and leave fares will be paid to point of hire. A competitive salary with a low tax rate is on offer.
