Department

• [Company] specializes in self-performing challenging heavy civil construction projects in the heart of New York City, Chicago, and surrounding areas. We are leaders in bridge, transit, foundation, and tunnel construction and specialize in cast-in-place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. Our experienced and highly qualified people along with our extensive resources and in-depth market knowledge make us uniquely qualified to handle projects of any size.

Tasks

• Positions are available to students currently working toward a degree in the following engineering disciplines: civil engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management, or electrical engineering.
• Internships are available year-round for the 2012-2013 academic years.  Our intent is to expose students to the daily practices of the construction industry, and more specifically, [Company]. This is accomplished by providing work experiences in field operations, estimating, cost control and operations planning. We will give you responsibilities within our fast-paced environment and mentor you through the experience with the assistance of senior engineers and managers.  
• The following is a list of areas in which you will have the opportunity to expand your practical knowledge: construction safety, project staffing, project management, the roles of craft, interaction of contractor and designer, owner relations, shop drawing/submittal process, construction terminology, phasing, scheduling, quality control, bidding, quantity survey, cost tracking, purchasing, and contract administration.
