Senior Hardware Development Engineer

Position Summary

• Senior hardware developer of innovative safety systems using ‘fault-tolerant’ and ‘failsafe’ architectures.
• Develop analogue and digital design solutions from requirements specifications.
• Work closely with the Process Safety Design team in the UK.
• Provide and maintain accurate estimates and project schedules.
• Ensure that department practices and output meet the requirements of the business, including adherence company processes and external standards

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong hardware engineering background, preferably in embedded systems.
• 5yrs+ experience of both analogue and digital design.
• Experience using of schematic capture packages, preferably ORCAD.
• Proven skills in prototyping and design-proving new hardware designs.
• Broad technical knowledge including: knowledge of hardware FMEAs, Reliability Engineering, FPGA design and VHDL.
• Good people skills and experience in a fast track, value added business; ability to interface internally at Management level.
• Use of Version Control and Configuration Management tools in an ISO9000 environment.
• Preferred familiarity with IEC 61508: Products must conform to exacting safety standards such as IEC 61508. Previous experience of certification to SIL3 of this standard would be highly advantageous, but is not essential for a strong and self-motivated candidate.
