Senior EHS Compliance Mining Auditor

[Company] is seeking a Senior EHS Compliance Mining Auditor to join our growing Performance & Assurance practice team in Scottsdale, AZ; Salt Lake City, UT; or Denver, CO. In this role, you will provide project/client management and senior technical assistance on EHS compliance audits, EHS management systems, and compliance assurance programs for mining clients throughout the Western US, nationally, and possible international locations. This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging EHS management projects for large global mining clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform EHS compliance audits at complex mining facilities and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with corporate, OSHA, MSHA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Develop, manage, and implement environmental and safety management systems and sustainability programs for mining and other corporate clients.
  • Manage and develop plans, permits, and policies for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, water and mine tailings.
  • Conduct training, field coaching, and assessment for safety performance improvement projects.
  • Provide on-site senior-level compliance support at client facilities.
  • Participate in mine land reclamation and closure projects.
  • Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business to grow the Performance & Assurance practice in the Mining sector.
  • Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads.
  • Manage multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Appropriately delegate project assignments to project teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with other [Company] employees.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, or related discipline.
  • 15+ years of EHS compliance auditing experience, including with mining/metals industries.
  • Certification in field desired (e.g., PE, CSP, CHMM, International Cyanide Code Auditor).
  • Solid understanding of MSHA regulations; familiarity with International Cyanide Code.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports.
  • Recognized technical expertise by and established reputation in the regional marketplace, including positive reputation with key regulators relevant to CERCLA or RCRA actions within EPA Regions VIII and IX.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel (anticipated 40%), and work independently.
  • Proficiency in Spanish desired.
