Department of Geosciences
The Hydrogeology workgroup in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Tübingen offers the position of a
Research Associate
which can be filled in immediately. Initial employment is for 3 years. Extension to 6 years in total is subject to a positive assessment. The salary is according to the civil service pay A13 of the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
The Center for Applied Geoscience (ZAG) is one of the largest university research centers in Europe focusing on applied environmental research in the subsurface. We participate in the competence cluster Water Earth System Science (www.wess.info) of the Universities of Tübingen, Hohenheim, Stuttgart and the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research UFZ. The hydrogeology workgroup also coordinates the international research training group "Integrated Hydrosystem Modelling" (www.hydromod.uni-tuebingen.de) in collaboration with the Universities of Hohenheim and Waterloo (Canada).
We seek for a researcher with profound knowledge in numerical simulation of groundwater systems. The anticipated focus should lie on reactive-transport simulations in regional-scale hydrosystems, including surface and subsurface compartments. Applicants need to have an excellent PhD degree in hydro(geo)logy, environmental engineering, applied mathematics or related fields with applications to the simulation of subsurface flow and transport processes. Publications in international peer-reviewed journals are mandatory. The successful applicant is expected to lead a productive research team, successfully acquire third-party-funding, publish papers in highly ranked journals, and participate in teaching (including a BSc course on geomathematics).
