Process Engineer / Senior Process Engineer

Position Description

• Located 125 miles southwest of Houston, [Company] supplies alumina -- the compound from which aluminum is made -- to [Company]  global production system -- the largest network of refineries and smelters in the world. [Company] Operations has been a member of the Calhoun County Community since 1948 when it constructed the first aluminum production facility powered by natural gas. Since 1980, however, alumina has been Point Comfort Operation's primary product. • The primary function of this position is to provide technical support for one or more Alumina Plant operating departments, including Digestion, Clarification, Precipitation, and Calcination or the Chemicals Plant .
• This position is necessary to support the success of the business at Point Comfort by providing the technical support that maintains and improves production processes in terms of quality, production rate, and efficiency in a manner consistent with the Vision and Values of [Company] Inc.
• This would include: monitoring day-to-day plant operations; working with production personnel to solve process problems and advise corrective actions as needed; utilizing ABS/Lean Manufacturing tools as necessary to improve process stability, reduce costs and/or improve efficiency; participating in the development of standard work instructions; developing project scopes that improve process control and cost performance, reducing or eliminating process variability, or improve reliability of the area etc.
• These positions can be filled as JG 14 or JG 16 depending upon experience and qualifications.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or its equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required
