Regulatory and Stakeholder Relations Coordinator

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Regulatory and Stakeholder Relations Coordinator will work closely with teams throughout our corporate and field operations to help ensure stakeholder and communications deliverables are carried out successfully in support of regulatory applications for oil and gas developments, including oil sands. 

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?

• Develop and execute an effective stakeholder consultation plan that reflects current regulatory requirements, stakeholder expectations and corporate objectives
• Prepare the public consultation components required to support regulatory process for new and modified oil sands projects
• Fulfill provincial and federal Aboriginal consultation requirements
• Prepare reports and documentation to regulatory agencies to demonstrate stakeholder consultation requirements were fulfilled.  Documentation provided should withstand the scrutiny of a future regulatory hearing
• Use database to track progress with respect to stakeholder commitments
• Coordinate communication activities such as community workshops, open house sessions, and prepare newsletters, project updates and key messages
• Prepare timely responses to stakeholder enquires related to regulatory applications
• Manage consultants for the completion of Traditional Land Use studies and independent review of project applications and Environmental Impact Assessments
• Track costs associated with project specific stakeholder consultation activities relative to approved budgets
• Work with team members to build effective relationships with local stakeholders, including Aboriginal communities, near Canadian Natural developments
• Communicate with project team members on the status of community engagement activities in a timely manner
• Inform appropriate team members on opportunities and requests for community investment, business development and education/training sought by local communities
• Coordinate project specific stakeholder consultation activities with Surface Landmen and Stakeholder Relations Advisors
• Coach and mentor project team members to develop effective consultation and communications methods for stakeholder engagement

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Typically 10+ years of related industry experience with post-secondary education in a related field
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
  • The oil and gas industry, preferably oil sands, along with an understanding of related regulatory and environmental matters
  • Stakeholder processes along with demonstrated performance of working effectively with local communities
  • Research, writing, listening, two-way dialogue and relationship building
  • Regulatory requirements related to consultation
  • Dealing with sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Microsoft Office suite
