Maintenance Technician

Job Description

  • [Company] , a diversified industrial manufacturer, has an opening for a first shift Maintenance Technician at its Clutch assembly facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineer. The facility has approximately 100 employees and manages several product lines for the Heavy Duty Truck markets.
  • This position is responsible to perform a wide variety and range of plant maintenance activities. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment. This person will troubleshoot work-related problems to include electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic. Schedules and performs high level, non-operator PM tasks in accordance with manufacturers' recommendation (i.e. Hoists, power presses, etc.) and maintain necessary records. Takes appropriate corrective action on any safety work orders submitted within time frame indicated based on prioritization system (i.e. 24 hours).

Other responsibilities include:

  • Performs a wide variety and range of plant maintenance activities.
  • Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoots work-related problems to include electronic, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic. This includes PLC’s, Drive’s, Camera Systems, etc……
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications.
  • Schedule / perform higher level, non-operator PM tasks in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations (i.e. hoists, power presses, etc.) and maintain necessary records.
  • Takes appropriate corrective action on any safety work orders submitted within timeframe indicated based on prioritization system (Maximo).
  • Potential leadership responsibilities to oversee and train other maintenance personnel
  • Completes required maintenance records.
  • Uses expertise for diagnosis and for emergency repairs.
  • Has advanced knowledge of AC, DC and servo motors and controls.
  • May consult with engineers and vendors.
  • Completes required maintenance records.
  • Comply with all Corporate and Company policies and guidelines.
  • Perform work safely, following all safety procedures
  • Participate in teaming activities.
  • Responsible to perform lean activities as directed (i.e. 5’s, TPM, etc.)
  • Ensure a safe work environment and assist with managing environmental and safety objectives
  • Foster a positive work environment consistent with the [Company] Values and Philosophies
  • Other general maintenance responsibilities as necessary.

Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements):

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of 3 years maintenance/machine repair in a manufacturing plant environment experience is required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area (50 mile radius) will be considered for this position.

Position Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively implement, promote and maintain a safe working environment. Some examples include but are not limited to lockout / tag out, confined space, electrical hazard, etc.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and comfort using computers
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving abilities, organizational and planning skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications (electrical) or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Electronic troubleshooting capabilities (PLC’s, Drives, Camera Systems, etc…).
  • Possesses welding and fabrication capabilities.
  • AC/DC knowledge / qualifications
