Process Engineer Blast Furnace

Job Description
The Process Engineer will:

  • Administer the [Company] program to ensure a safe work environment within the assigned facility.
  • Perform a full range of process control duties and provide assistance to the in the Blast Furnace operations team to meet the corporate goals for production and fuel rate.
  • Problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Continuous improvement.
  • Extensive experience with systems for real time monitoring/analysis of process parameters.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Software Quality Assurance experience.
  • Customer support experience.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, C, and C++.
  • Basic knowledge of Finite element analysis.
  • Observe daily operations and make necessary changes to run the Blast Furnace.
  • Make daily burden changes to assist in achieving Blast Furnace production and efficiency.
  • Utilize models to track raw material consumption, inventory, and run-out dates.
  • Recommend changes to improve the quality of hot metal by changing proportions of raw materials in the charge.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Metallurgical, Chemistry, Material Science or Chemical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years Process Control and Blast Furnace Technology or equivalent required.
  • Coordination and direction of the safe, efficient and economical operation of the facility.
  • Utilization of management skills to supervise, direct and coordinate the efforts of employees assigned to the operating facility to maximize operating efficiencies with minimum interruption.
  • Implementation of the production plan by coordinating material movement and equipment operation to meet customer's specifications -- including quality, delivery requirements, etc.
  • Administration of operating facilities' personnel, production reports, policies and procedures and other record keeping as necessary.
  • Training and development will be temporarily handled off site and another [Company] facility.
