Job Description
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the senior mine geologist will provide technical evaluation of operations with the aim of optimising geological interpretation and coordination of coal mining for all surface mining operations. The senior mine geologist will work closely with members of both the technical and production teams to ensure that coal mining schedules and geological interpretations allow for maximum recovery of coal and minimum dilution of coal.
You will provide leadership and mentoring for a small geology team and will be responsible for coordinating the collection of geologically relevant data, pit wall mapping.
The Successful Applicant
To be successful in this role, a solid understanding of coal geology is required.
An ability to interpret mine plans and recognise geotechnical hazards. Previous experience using acQuire and Vulcan software will be highly regarded. Ideally candidates will have 5+ years experience in the coal / mining industry.
