Procurement Manager

Mining and Metals, Procurement Manager, Liberia

Our client is looking for a procurement manager who would be responsible for the purchase of capital goods and services for a Green field Iron and Ore Mining project based in Liberia.

Duties

• Responsible for the purchase of capital goods and services for a Green Field Iron and Ore Project
• Sourcing the plan / procurement schedule
• Planning and managing the supply chain activity
• Pursuing and creating a competitive purchasing environment
• Seeking alternative supply scenarios including sourcing from emerging countries
• Reporting to the senior procurement manager
• Despite being based in Liberia, there will be occasional travel to Toronto

Personal Attributes

• Experience in purchasing of Capital Goods and Services (Civil Construction, Logistics & Ware house)
• Strong business acumen and commercial skills & capability to build and lead task driven teams
• Ability to work autonomously and at the same time to contribute strongly as a team player working together with various stake holders in the project team
• Analytical ability and comfortable in a highly computerized environment, preferably in SAP
• Exposure to a multi-cultural working environment preferable
• Has led similar project implementation and delivered results consistent with requirements of this position
• Cross-functional competencies and knowledge of Project Management. etc
• Possess knowledge in Mining Industry, Railway Line & Port construction and working experience with Engineering Firms/consultants
• The ideal candidate would preferably have an engineering degree in mechanical or any equivalent technical education
• A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience and 5 years as a manager at a global international company would be a definite advantage as the role is very demanding and requires experience
