Hose Technician

Position Summary

• Fairmont Supply Company , a leader in materials management and one of the nation's largest full-line industrial distributors, is seeking a Hose Technician for our Fairmont  Rubber Products Customer Service Center in Fairmont, WV.  This position is responsible to manufacture hoses for customers per quality specifications.

Target Responsibilities
The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Perform all duties in accordance with safety policies.
• Perform functions of hose fabrication, inventory, and keeping the hose room clean.
• Process UPS/RPS/ Fed Ex/ Airborne shipments.
• Make deliveries to customers.
• Cut hydraulic and industrial hose with automatic saw within tolerances and check quality of hose.
• Test and inspect hoses for leakage.  Pressurize hose until it burst to ensure it withstands four times the normal working pressure.
• Roll and measure hose for Longwall moves and work on stocking mine cars.
• Identify hose and couple with fittings that match hose.  Visually inspect couplings for damages.
• Performs skiving and marking hoses to the length specifications.
• Cut hose in the absence of coworkers according to the customer’s orders.  Inspect hoses for quality problems.
• Crimp hose to the specifications set for each type of hose.
• Pull and Pack orders for shipping to customers.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, specialized training, and 1-2 years of manufacturing experience in a mine related industry.  This requires training for production of hydraulic and industrial hoses for specifications.  The ideal candidate will have operational knowledge of forklifts; special driver's license and certifications may be required.  This position requires computer skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
