Responsibilities:

  • [Company] seeks a senior environmental scientist to function as Department Manager for its Charleston, SC [Mt. Pleasant] area office. The position requires a commitment to manage the department for growth with a strong emphasis on client and business development. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring a group of environmental geologists, engineers and project managers. You will interface with clients on a daily basis, manage departmental P&L, and direct/manage department marketing efforts. Local candidates with knowledge of the Charleston area and with existing client contacts are strongly preferred.
  • We seek a 'hands-on' manager who is comfortable in both field and office environments. You will lead by example. From a technical standpoint you will be involved with environmental site assessments, wetland delineations, groundwater and soil investigations, risk assessments, hydrogeologic studies, remediation system design, industrial hygiene services (including asbestos, lead-based paint, indoor air quality assessments, and health & safety), underground storage tank assessments, and remediation assessments.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of Environmental Engineering, Geology, or similar experience.
  • Must have a NC PG or PE license, or be capable of obtaining local licensure within three months following date of hire.
  • BS in geology or a discipline related to environmental science.
  • Strong marketing, business development, leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and responsible.
  • Ability to work well with others, and build a team.
