Ventilation Officer


Our client is a leading mining consultancy, providing services exclusively to the minerals sector. They work with their clients to plan new mines or improve operations of existing mines with a primary focus on achieving optimum output and return. As a result of ongoing workload and new projects they are now looking to acquire the services of an experienced Ventilation Officer.


The role and responsibilities of the Ventilation Officer will include:

• A sound understanding of the application of advanced network analysis to ventilation systems, including thermo dynamic aspects. 
• Experience in determining fan/system performance and specification of requirements in complex coal and metalliferous ventilation systems, including trouble shooting and problem solving. 
• A thorough technical understanding of gas drainage in underground mines. 
• A solid understanding of relevant computer software. Proficient in the use of VentSim. Use of other software, e.g. VUMAwill be advantageous. 
• Sound understanding of best practice mine ventilation standards. 
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders including management, technical professionals and operational personnel. 
• An ability to work either independently or as part of a project team in a cooperative environment. 
• An ability to write clear and concise reports.

To be considered for the role of Ventilation Officer you will require:

• Tertiary mining engineering qualification or relevant underground mine ventilation qualification.
• Minimum of 15 years experience in underground mine ventilation, refrigeration and cooling. 
• Eligibility for membership of an industry recognised professional organisation.
