Minimum Requirements

• 5-10 years experience in similar role on a Mining site government Certificate of Competency in Mining (GCC)

Job Specification

• Be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of machinery;
• The mine’s / plant’s formal safety, health and environmental (SHE) management system
• Risk assessment and hazard identification programmes
• Recommendations of the health and safety committees
• Ensuring compliance with the Mine Health and Safety and Minerals Act
• Giving instructions on work duties incorporating a view to SHE matters
• Ensuring such instructions are understood and complied with
• Ensuring that your subordinates are properly trained to competently carry out their job functions and that they do so
• Ensuring adequate supply of, and training in the maintenance and correct usage of personal protective equipment
• Ensuring an adequate system of communication and feedback between your department
• Ensure existing procedures and codes of practice relating to machinery are adequate and are frequently reviewed
