Manager - Environment & Sustainability

Our major client - is seeking to appoint a Manager - Environment & Sustainability to join their corporate management team, based in their Perth Head Office..

Our Client is emerging as a key supplier of high quality Western Australian iron ore to major world markets. The company holds mining leases in the Jack Hills and Weld Range areas of Western Australia's mid-west region, about 380 kilometres north-east of Geraldton.

Reporting to the Vice President Corporate Services, this position is required to supervise the management of the Environmental Management System, maintain compliance with environmental standards across the organisation to ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Standards and manage and report on sustainability and carbon efficiency.

In order to be considered  for this senior position - you will have the following essential skills and educational qualifications and experience:- 10 - 15 years recent and relevant experience in a senior Environmental position within the mining industry

The key elements of this position include:

• Manage environmental aspects relevant to the organisation's activities;
• Manage and mitigate potential hazards identified during risk assessments;
• Implement commitments made in relation to relevant licenses;
• Promote compliance with licence conditions and relevant laws;
• Ensure continual improvement of the organisation's environmental systems and processes;
• Contribute and manage environmental aspects (e.g. greenhouse gas emissions, water, biodiversity) considered material to the sustainability of the organisation;
• Promote a culture of environmental awareness; and
• Implement environmental offsets.

The successful candidate will meet the following key criteria:

• Tertiary qualification in environmental sciences or related field
• Knowledge of and experience in environmental approvals requirements and strategies
• Working knowledge of relevant environmental legislation
• Strong communication skills and mentoring skills
