Engineering Manager

Our client is one of the world's largest military contractors, providing Australia's Army, Navy and Air Force and security customers with total capability.
 
They are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for a key role within their Maritime business located in Western Australia. As the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the delivery of engineering outputs within the constraints of quality, cost and schedule. You will be responsible for ensuring the engineering outputs are developed in accordance with the approved company processes and meet the agreed needs of the customer.

As the Engineering Manager your major emphasis will be to plan and continually manage the technical approach, the appropriate technical infrastructure required to deliver the products, the technical methodology and processes to be followed and the experience and skill level required for each of the engineering positions to ensure success.
 
The role will involve but not be limited to:

• Leading the engineering team in the realisation of the engineering solution while optimising cost and schedule.
• Acting as the point of contact with the customer, to understand the customer requirements and develop and maintain the contract technical solution accordingly.
• Ensuring the defined engineering lifecycle and processes employed within the program are compliant processes in line with the business management system.
• Identifying and managing technical risk within the program.
• Supporting the development of key engineering staff, identifying and executing development plans for these key members of staff.
• Managing engineering personnel to ensure their utilisation to providing effective contribution to the programme.
• Ensuring that product integrity is maintained and that a high level of engineering performance is achieved, ensuring that sound engineering principles are adhered to.

The successful applicant will display the following skills and attributes:

• Substantial engineering management knowledge and experience (minimum 12years in project environment)
• A proven track record in management roles
• A working knowledge of Maritime environments and ideally knowledge of Defence project environments
• Tertiary qualifications and experience satisfying the requirements for membership of Engineers Australia
• Chartered Professional Engineer status, or a commitment to obtain within 12 months of appointment

Whilst not essential, postgraduate qualifications in a field relevant to the business are desirable.
