Senior Geologist - Hume Project

Cockatoo Coal is a rapidly growing Australian metallurgical and thermal coal producer. ASX-listed in 2005, the Company is aggressively expanding production with the aim of becoming a major independent coal company, suited to servicing the ongoing growth in global demand for coal, particularly from Asia. Existing operations in QLD are to be supplemented by exploration and development of recently acquired lease areas in NSW.

Due to the planned exploration and development of the Hume Project, we are seeking to secure the services of an experienced Senior Geologist. This is an excellent opportunity to become a team member of a Company that is looking ahead at significant growth and development.

Reporting to the Hume Project Manager, the primary purpose of the role is to assist the Hume Project team to effectively manage all geological activities for the project.

Previous experience with the mining sector and the issues facing mining exploration, development and investment will assist in this regard, and as such will be viewed favourably.

Key attributes of the position include demonstrated knowledge of coal exploration, geological modelling, project management budget management, complemented by highly developed communication, interpersonal and reporting skills will ensure that you are appropriately prepared for the job at hand. The ability to calmly, logically and effectively respond to a variety of stakeholders, including the local community and NSW government will be required to successfully undertake this role.
This role is a full time position and will be based at Hume. The ideal candidate will have over 4 years’ experience in coal exploration and management, and be degree qualified.
