About the Company

Located in western NSW, the mine originally started in 1871 - it has had an open and shut history however the current production has been since 1999. The main focus is the extraction of copper with silver as a co-product. Over 350 people are employed at the mine and it is a strong supporter of the local community. It is an underground operation producing over 185,000 tonnes of copper concentrate per year.

About the Role

In this role you will primarily be involved with development and implementation of control measures to minimize geotechnical risk associated with underground mining. Reporting to the technical services manager you will also be required to mentor junior members of staff, manage contractors, review ground control performance, maintain and optimize hazard management systems,implement sequencing guidelines, and provide general geotechnical input towards mine design, stope design, and excavations.

About You

Ideally you will have at least 5-7 years experience in an underground metalliferous environment, along with a tertiary degree in geotechnical or mine engineering. Experience with Surpac and Map3D will be an advantage as would exposure to risk management training.
