About Our Client

A Queensland Government body is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Officer contractor to join an established team within the Built and Natural Environment area, based in Brisbane.


The Role
 
The Senior Environment Officer will be required to undertake and manage projects related to environmental assessment, environmental planning, environmental management and auditing. 


About You

Ideally you will be available immediately and be able to commit for a minimum of six months. 

You will have sound knowledge and experience in relation to the following key accountabilities:
  • Effectively lead, coordinate, program and monitor the team's environmental management activities.
  • Assist the Unit Manager and Senior Environmental Officers in the development and management of environmental systems, procedures, policies, strategies and standards of service, preparation of environmental impact assessments and preparation of environmental licence/permit applications.
  • Manage, coordinate and undertake multiple interdisciplinary projects utilising appropriate technical expertise and management skills to ensure completion to agreed time, cost and quality objectives.
  • Provide expert or specialist advice, where necessary, in order to ensure project outcomes meet customer's expectations, policies and goals and to ensure appropriate application of technology.
  • Assist in the preparation of fee proposals, utilising high level technical skills, in order to enhance existing customer base and develop and maintain customer relationships and partnerships.
  • Interpret and apply relevant legislation and guidelines to ensure work is completed according to legal obligations and consistent with Council policies.
  • Maintain an awareness of, and provide leadership in the implementation of new technology as appropriate, in order to ensure efficient and effective project delivery, maintain the section's leading edge position in environmental management, and support the branch goals of Planning and Design.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced staff in the execution of projects.
  • Comply with and assist in the development and continuous improvement of City Project's Office quality management system.
  • Lead and role model customer focused behaviour by solving customer issues within level of delegation or escalating for resolution.
  • Work in partnership with your team leader to agree performance standards and mutual expectations.  Give and receive regular feedback to enable performance to be improved and take personal responsibility for optimising your potential within the organisation

To be successful in this role you must have tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and at least 2-5 years experience in a similar role. You must have previous exposure to environmental management and legislation as well as strong communication skills and the ability to generate solutions.
