Geotechnical Engineer 

Design & Build is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for a Mining Operator in New Zealand. This role reports to the Technical Services Manager and is a site based role. Living and working in New Zealand this is an excellent opportunity to source a residential position working a 5:2 roster and be home every night

Key responsibilities of the Geotechnical Engineer will include:
  • Interpret geological structures and rock mass
  • Supervision of surface operations and investigation 
  • Undertaking continuous improvement of geotechnical practices and procedures and interact with other service line managers 
  • Maintain the geotechnical database
To succeed in the of Geotechnical Engineer role you will need:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and ideally postgraduate experience
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in geotechnical practices and previous experience in mining and resources
  • Experience in soft rock  
  • Good report writing skills and communication 
  • Software knowledge ie Vulcan or similar
  • Exposure to rock stability analysis and seismic hazards
