Owner’s Representative, Civil

Position Summary:

We currently have an opening for a Civil Construction Engineer to help out a client of ours with their open pit mine project. The qualified candidate is responsible for supporting the management of the civil construction related phases of the Project from the front end, through construction and turnover including supporting the planning, constructability, scheduling, and field coordination.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Work with the Project Team to ensure timely, safe and quality execution of the EPCM contractor’s site civil construction works.
• Review and report on the effective and efficient management of EPCM civil construction equipment.
• Assess the productivity of the Project’s civil works, identify bottlenecks therein and work with the EPCM Contractor to mitigate any such bottlenecks or constraints.
• Attend all weekly management safety walk downs and supports EPCM contractor to identify and correct safety issues.
• Support the Project’s erosion and sedimentation control mandate through proactive attention to civil construction solutions for prevention and mitigation of environmental incidents.
• During the preliminary phase you will, evaluate and provide oversight in the identification and mitigation of constructability and planning issues.
• Hold state of readiness sessions for construction kickoff,
• Review and provide inputs to the assessment of contractor’s construction implementation plans required for the Owner’s Construction Execution
• Plan and manage contractor’s assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency and maintain schedules for Owner’s Works to meet budget goals.

Qualifications:

• 15 or more years of construction experience with progression into construction management responsibilities during that development time
• Large industrial project experience (preferable mining) with focus on on-site experience.
• Extensive earthworks, quarry development or dam construction experience; concrete and structural steel will be considered but those disciplines are not immediately required.
• Experience in wet project climates (saprolite)
• Graduate Civil Engineer

The position will start as soon as we can secure a qualified candidate. The remuneration will be negotiable but an attractive package.
