Area Project Engineer - Mechanical

The Area Project Engineer will be responsible for managing the designated or nominated area of the Project with regards to the scope, schedule, budget and contractual aspects of designated packages.  Using the services of Contracts and Procurement to enter and administer Contracts and Construction team to manage the on-site day to day aspects of the Contract, the Area Project Engineer is the designated owner for all construction contracts until contract close-out.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan project activities, tasks and end results including setting the scheduling for completing the works and budgeting
  • Interface with stakeholders: Negotiate with and integrate activities of contractors, consultants, users and top management
  • Liaise with appropriate Client contact
  • Project co-ordination (between process engineering, drawing office, site, QA/QC, vendors, etc.)
  • Interface with the Engineering team as necessary to support them in their delivery of all engineering and design as required for the project area
  • Identify the requirements for engineering input into procurement and construction contract packages
  • Coordinate the technical reviews of all procurement and construction contract packages

As an Area engineer your prime objective is to Manage and ensure the completion of works within the allocated time and budget whilst complying with contractual specifications. Essential requirements include:

  • Degree qualifications, Engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive Mechanical experience within an iron ore mining context
  • 10 years experience minimum with at least 5 years EPCM
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Project Management experience
