Senior Geologist

International mining company seeks to employ a number of Senior Geologists with coal or iron ore experience. 

Minimum Requirements

• Post graduate or B. Degree in Geology.
• Exploration / Geologist experience in Coal or Iron Ore. 
• Skilled in resource analysis, log evaluation techniques and mapping experience
• Practical experience in evaluating systems, core, log correlation/evaluation, computer mapping/cross-sections with geological software packages
• Ability to balance sound business judgement with solid technical evaluation.
• Must have the initiative to work with minimal supervision showing innovation in selecting and utilizing the proper tools to identify and map exploration ideas.
• Good level of communication skills - verbal and written
• Willing to travel.
• Project management
• An ability to gather, analyse and evaluate data and to prepare and present concise reports
• An ability to work unsupervised
• Knowledge of applicable legislative and regulatory frameworks
• Geology principles and practices
• Leadership and people management skills

Job Specification

Responsibilities:

• Exploration strategy
• Assist with development of an exploration plan for each tenement.
• Carry out exploration plan and ensure reporting of daily, weekly and monthly requirements.
• Maintain and review the geological data on an ongoing basis to ensure information is always current
• Overview tenement requirements and meet specific deadlines for reporting. Operational management of the exploration program
• Assist with planning, scheduling and budgeting of the exploration plan.
• Oversee contractors and consultants to ensure work is completed safely and to required standards.
• Oversee exploration operations to ensure they are undertaken to plan and in accordance with the legislation
• Actively liaise with landowners and cultural groups
• Ensure all data obtained is reviewed and assessed prior to entry into the data base. Safety Management of the exploration program
• Site duties will be required and the Senior Geologist is to ensure operations are conducted safely and in accordance with the standards and procedures and to the standard set by the DMR
• Conduct safety inductions when required. Reporting on Safe Work Practices.
• Ensure hazard management plans are observed
• Ensure the requirements of the Environmental approvals and Cultural Heritage Plan are met  Keep statutory and internal reporting
• Assist maintain all tenements in good standing, with DMR and any other external parties. Resource Statements
• Establish standards and process for all geological and quality testing.
• Develop and maintain geological records of all identified data.
