They employ a full spectrum of engineering, technical and corporate professionals. As 1 of SA’s top 500 companies it is growing and looking for a Works Foreman to join their team.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric
  • Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic
  • Min 3 years experience
  • Valid drivers license
  • Working knowledge of Komatsu, Bell and Caterpillar Machines

Job Specification

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to

  • Perform quality service, maintenance and brake down repair on all equipment under control of Yellow Fleet MOD, as allocated.
  • Do quality inspections on equipment – full mechanical and cosmetics.
  • Report in writing possible preventable failures on equipment or equipment parts. (The artisan will be held responsible for any failure after inspection on equipment was done and confirmed correct).
  • The artisan shall supervise and will be held responsible for any work done on equipment by a Semi-Skilled artisan or aid working under his supervision.
  • Perform a quality root cause analysis on equipment failures and report thereon in writing on the relevant job-card.
  • Consult maintenance manuals to identify and record a list of all the parts needed to complete a task. (Mechanic will be held responsible for ordering the wrong parts.
  • Part list must be handed to the foreman for inspection and hand over to the planner in time for ordering parts.
  • Stripped parts (Bolts, nuts, clamps and hoses or any other loose parts) must be placed in a marked container and stored at a safe place for easy identification and locating, should other mechanic’s requires parts for fitment, when assigned mechanic is on off cycle.
  • See to it that all parts removed from a machine in repair, is properly protected and stored in a manner that will prevent deterioration or damage thereof.
  • Ensure parts robbery doesn’t occur, unless direct instructions are given by Manhattan Corporation Chairman – Chris Pouroullis to Yellow Fleet Manager.
  • A Job-Card must be completed for every job allocated, including services, maintenance, rebuilds, brake downs and cosmetics, and handed in at the YF Foreman at completion of the job for his inspection and sign-off.
  • Ensure a risk assessment is performed of every task to be done and signed off by the Foreman.
  • Check to ensure that at every service an inspection sheet is attached to the Job Card.
  • Job Cards must be signed off by foreman and site manager and handed in to Yellow Fleet Administrator before close of business the same day.
  • Oil samples must be taken on all components in a clean and proper way. Oil samples submission form must be duly completed. A copy must be attached to the Job Card. Oil samples taken must be handed in with the YF Administrator directly after sample form is completed.
  • Control sheet of oil usage must be completed as required.
  • Ensure availability and good condition of the correct tools as required according to the tool list.
  • Tools must conform to safety standards and available for inspection by all times.
  • Correct PPE must be worn at all times.
  • Ensure responsible driving and use of MOD LDV vehicles according to vehicle policy.
  • It’s the responsibility of the artisan to familiarise himself with the duty roster of the department and to ensure travelling arrangements are in place in the event of night shift duty being required.
  • Ensure all Leave applications are submitted one month in advance.
  • Sick leave must be reported within 24 hours, and only to Yellow Fleet Manager or Foreman, followed by the submission of a valid sick note issued by a registered
