Engineering Foreman

Top 300 mining company that owns and operates gold and diamond operations in SA, focusing on alluvial diamond mining operations, have an installed capacity of over 12 million ROM tonnes per annum, with existing construction underway to increase the capacity to over 20 million tonnes per annum within the next 12-15 months, is looking for a experienced Production Manager to join their team.

Minimum Requirements

  • Fabrication/Mechanical Apprenticeship/Engineering qualification
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience in a Supervisory Engineering/Maintenance function in the mining industry - medium to heavy Engineering and fabrication

Job Specification

Engineering:

  • To ensure that all refurbishment work completed on time and to quality standards required
  • To ensure that the assembly of new plants are completed on time and to the quality standards required
  • Identifying better ways of working or processing in order to increase productivity. i.e labour optimisation
  • Identifying cost effectiveness methods of improving plant and equipment to improve machine reliability
  • Availability of plant and equipment
  • Budget adherence
  • Process and productivity improvements
  • Program adherence
  • Daily and weekly report back to the Works Engineer
  • Monthly Management reviews
  • Preventative maintenance records
  • Breakdown reports
  • Maintenance
  • To implement a preventative maintenance program, consisting of daily, weekly and monthly checks, planned/routine maintenance and pro-active assessment of critical failures
  • This will cover all aspects of the operation
  • Specify that the correct critical equipment and equipment spares and ensure they are stocked
  • Maintain Healthy and Safe working conditions in his area of responsibility e.g. Ensuring that all pinch points and exposed moving parts on all the equipment and machinery is guarded prior to that equipment or machinery being started
  • Adhering to all standards, procedures, rules and regulations and all other governing legislation
  • Managing all workshop staff and artisans
  • Ensuring correct tooling requirements (within company's company’s budget constraints) are available at all times to complete the required work
  • Enforcing discipline and maintaining positive moral to ensure optimal productivity and efficiencies.
  • Strong planning skills                                   
  • MS Projects would be beneficial                                  
  • Bilingual                                   
  • Microsoft Office essential
