Senior Mining Engineer

We are currently looking for a Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer for our Client's Toronto office. As a registered professional engineer in a Canadian jurisdiction, the Senior Mine Engineer can coordinate and lead multidisciplinary engineering, estimating and clerical groups on assignments that support our clients.
 
Reporting directly to the Staff Manager in Vancouver, engineering assignments may include consultation, mine design & costing, scheduling and NI 43-101 report generation work.
This job spends a significant amount of time providing skills as a qualified, licensed engineer as well as acts as a technical authority in various aspects of projects.
 
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the review deliverables produced by other personnel to ensure procedural and technical compliance to recognized quality standards for the project.
  • Ensure that design engineering activities follow proper procedures and in accordance with the Company QA programs and manuals
  • Use knowledge and experience to train team members on mining practices and methods.
  • Makes recommendations to Project Managers on the economic, financial and/or other implications of the project, proposals or plans.
  • Serve as a Qualified Professional (QP) on relevant parts of mine technical reports.
  • Carries out projects in accordance within the policies of our Client to meet the needs of the client and applicable laws.
  • Supports the engineering team using positive technical leadership.
  • Establish effective working relations with other engineers, Discipline
  • Manager(s), Project Managers, Project Engineers and individuals to ensure effective communication on all projects
  • Use initiative and judgment in analyzing problems, determine critical factors for investigation and provide expert advice on design processes and construction methods
  • Ensure all regulatory approvals/registration are obtained as required by the design process and ensure that all codes/standards applicable to the design are adhered to
  • Coach and mentor staff to achieve best in class results
  • Assist in the training and development of new staff and junior engineers
Requirements
  • Bachelors (B.Sc.) degree from a recognized college or university with a minimum of eight to ten years of broad and extensive technical project experience.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in your province of residence is an asset.
  • Exposure to Previous Mining, Minerals and the Metals Industries
  • Previous Consulting Engineering experience is desired.
  • Strong organization skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must work well in a diverse team environment.
  • Travel to project sites may be required.
