Environmental Health Safety Engineer
Position Description
- This opening is with [Company], a division of Alcoa Power and Propulsion – a world leader in the investment casting of superalloys, aluminum and titanium primarily for jet aircraft and industrial gas turbine markets and a leading supplier of forgings for the aerospace, automotive, commercial transportation, and other industrial markets.
In this position the individual works in conjunction with the other members of the Safety Department to coordinate safety-related activities which includes:
- detecting and monitoring plant conditions that may adversely affect the safety and health of employees and/or violate applicable laws;
- effects or recommends corrective measures;
- completes plant audits and program assessments and prepares written reports on findings;
- participates in incident investigations to determine the “root cause” and ensure the implementation of appropriate changes to prevent future occurrences;
- conducts employee training programs; serve as the Security Coordinator for the Whitehall Operations.
- The Safety Engineer also works in conjunction with Manufacturing, Facility Engineering, Single Points of Accountability (SPAs), the Health and Safety Committee, the SAFETeams to ensure the program elements of various Alcoa safety and health programs are effectively rolled out and properly maintained.
Basic Qualifications
- BS degree in Chemisty, Biological Scieneces, Industrial Hygience, Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering or related and a minimum of 2 years of releated experience.
- Must have a good working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding workplace safety and health
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Good PC skills with a good working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and etc.
- Strong program management skills
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Team player
- Experience working in manufacturing environment
