Drill and Blast Engineer

Due to an exciting new venture one of our owner/operator clients is offering a permanent opportunity for a drill and blast engineer. Working on a world class mine located in South Australia they are offering a family friendly roster, competitive salary and generous bonus structure.

This opportunity exists for a drill and blast engineer focusing on the technical aspect of Drill and Blast operations to carry out a series of blast optimisations and customisation to increase the efficiency of the open pit mine. You will be expected to have previously demonstrated skills in safety inspection and audits of D&B work activities,  blast design and peer reviews of fellow D&B Engineer designs. You will also have experience of Fragment and vibration analysis and  demonstrated skills  using the functionality of electronic detonators and design/analysis software.

Key Responsibilities       

• Highly developed blast design skills incorporating blast design schematics
• Blast master plans
• D&B understanding on wall stability
• Self directed individual  with team and organisational goals

The following experience/skills are required for this position

• 3 years minimum drill and blast experience
• Tertiary qualification in a mining related discipline
• Drill and blast design with mining design packages.
• Ensuring drilling and blasting operations are optimised in terms of maintaining excellent wall control, mill throughput, digger productivity and cost.
• Supervising contractors across a range of functions within one site.
