Geotechnical Engineer
The Company

The Role
Responsible for the investigation, planning & evaluation of materials and geotechnical properties for port developments (both onshore terminals & marine works)
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for investigation, planning & evaluation of materials and geotechnical properties for port developments (both onshore terminals & marine works)
• Evaluate existing ground conditions for onshore and offshore
• Evaluate of materials sources for construction and design activities
• Evaluation of standards, criteria and specifications required for construction
• Assist with preparation and development of the annual budget and business plan
• Pro-active in development/analysis of material types to ensure cost effectiveness
• Work with team of multi discipline professionals across several continents
• Manage consultants working on the engineering of port developments
• Work with other infrastructure and environmental specialists to support the planning, investigative, project execution and commissioning of port developments
Key Requirements
• Tertiary Qualifications in either Civil Engineering or Foundation Engineering
• 15+ years relevant experience with rail industry experience and/or port experience
• Held senior position in the development of infrastructure developments in Australia
• Good written and oral communication skills in English language
• Able to travel/live overseas for short periods of time (less than two weeks at a time)
Desired Experience
• Previous engineering experience in development of major marine infrastructure
• Knowledge of legislation for Australian port construction related to geotech work
• Applied experience with supporting design development including safety design
• Engineering experience in construction of major port infrastructure in Queensland
• Engineering experience in the design documentation of a coal terminal in Australia
• Planning/development of material sources for major QLD infrastructure civil works
• Specifications for materials used in development of major port infrastructure in QLD
• Ability to supervise geotechnical investigations carried out in Queensland

Successful candidates will be located in the Brisbane area.
