Resident Engineer

A vacancy exists in the Cape Town office for a Resident Engineer to commence duties on the periodic maintenance (repair and reseal) on National Route R27 Section 9 between km73.64 and Brandvlei km147.75

Minimum Requirements

• BSc/BEng/BTech degree in Civil Engineering Professional registration is essential
• A minimum of 10 years experience in a civil engineering consulting environment in the field of roads site supervision
• Experience on SANRAL projects would be beneficial

Job Specification

• Monitor and report daily on construction progress ensuring that the project remains within budget and construction program
• Report to Engineer and liaise with contractors 
• Monitor the supervision of the team and provide technical support 
• Monitor the quality of the road and other works 
• Project management to ensure that the project can be completed within budget 
• Overall responsibility for site and site staff management 
• Ensure optimal utilisation of site staff 
• Monitor all safety procedures and take decisions to safeguard all employees and the general public 
• Ensure that the contractor complies with the requirements of the OHS Act (Act. No. 85 of 1993) and Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996), as amended Ensure compliance with SANRAL protocol of supervision of quality assurance manual
