Senior Project Planner - Mining Detail Design

Job Details

A leading international firm of consulting engineers is looking for the services of a Senior Project Planner to assist the Client with developing best practice processes to be applied to project planning, establishing a centre of excellence and to convert a project strategy into a well defined and workable project programme covering all project interfaces.

Minimum Requirements:

• Civil, mechanical qualification preferred 
• Minimum 12 + years project planning experience on mining or major industrial projects
• Knowledge of earned value analysis
• Previous training or mentoring experience a significant advantage
• Knowledge of Risk Analysis
• Understanding and ability to speak
• Portuguese will be an advantage

Key Responsibilities:

• From the project strategy define the key events, interfaces and deliverables.
• Be able to Produce Level 4 project programmes as a minimum.
•  Able to Produce Level 4 engineering key events plan showing primary task ownership (During Design Phase)
• Produce and control through meetings as per Client request a complete schedule of all engineering requisitions showing programme forecast and actual dates for the production of requisitions and purchase orders.
• This status report to show indicative lead times and programme impact.
• Assist engineering in the production of Level 3 (or as required) bar charts type plans showing secondary task and input requirements.
• Integrate supplier production programmes into the overall project programme. Integrate site subcontract construction and commissioning programmes into the overall site plan.
•  Assist the project Site Manager in the detailed interface planning of the 3 week look-ahead programme.
• Prepare progress reports to Project Management, Planning Manager and Client.
• Review site material shortages to produce site deficiency reports.
•  Liaise with Material Controller in scheduling replacement materials.
• Participate in development of planning techniques and standardisation of planning software suitable for all project applications. 
• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (preferred)
• Provide Schedule Trends.
• Responsible for Project level Schedule.
• Evaluate and Assess Contractors Schedule. 
• Develop and maintain Engineering Deliverables Trackers with interface with Project EDMS system for document progress verification.
• Manage Procurement and Expeditor Status Reports and ensure the programme is driven as support to the Project Manager.
• Interface with project WBS Library.
• Project Change Control - Update forecast and revises Programmes for formal approval.
• Always provide Variance analysis (cause, effect and mitigation scenarios) to permit Project Management to make informed decisions.
• Interface with Cost engineering for EVA purposes and Forecast Final Costs purposes.
• Ensure project Cost/Cash Flow mimics the Programme of Execution.
• Interface with Risk and Opportunity Management Run PERT Schedule Simulation with interface with Cost engineering to report on likely outcomes.
• Attend relevant Project meetings.
• Provide Planning, scheduling and progress report requirements to be included in the RFQ documentation and the time management section of the Project Execution Philisophy/Strategy/Plan.
