Project Director - PFS & BFS Study

Job Summary/General Accountability
Reporting to the CEO the Project Director is responsible for leading and directing the Owners team in the completion of a PFS and BFS on an advanced nickel laterite project in Brazil. The studies will be undertaken by a selected engineering group(s) on behalf of the Owner. Close management of and coordination with the engineering group(s) will be required.

Dimensions
The project is a large open pit mining, processing and infrastructure project

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
· Provide technical direction to ensure the Owner’s requirements are maintained and achieved in the PFS and BFS
· Manage the tender process to appoint the principle consulting groups for the PFS and BFS
· Provide direction to identify strengths, critical issues and areas of risks/exposure in the execution of the studies
· Communicate evaluations and technical decisions to the Owner
· Develop and sustain relationships with the senior engineering group and subcontractors, the Owner, staff, external parties and regulatory agencies
· Provide leadership in maintaining and following the Owner’s health, safety and environmental polices and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
· Responsible for delivering the studies according to the schedules and cost estimates established

Key Competencies
· Bachelor of Science degree in Mining/Civil/Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering and a P.Eng designation
· Masters degree is preferred
· Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in mining operations or in consulting. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience of nickel
· Ability to lead and provide direction to support the success and effectiveness of the other team members
· Ability to work with all levels of the organisation and in a team environment
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Ideally Bilingualism (English, Portuguese)
· Experience of working in Brazil (ideal but not essential if other criteria are met)
