Construction/Contracts Manager

A mining Project in the Northern Cape requires a Contracts Manager for a 6 to 8 month construction project. The suitable incumbent must be FIDIC competent with experience in QCP, materials handling, building systems code regulations and construction, electrical construction and piping, to oversee the building of offices, sheds and a laboratory.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 10 years’ experience working in Construction Management managing multi-disciplinary projects – civil, electrical, mechanical
• BSc / BTech Civil Engineering or relevant qualification in industrial building
• Quality Certification Program [ QCP ] / Competent in Quality Control Plan [ QCP ] compilation/preparation
• Safety Certifications and knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act [ MHSA ] and environmental regulations
• Knowledge of design principles building systems code regulations and construction practices
• Sound ability to interpret all construction drawings and schedules

Responsibilities

• Preparation and review of plans, specifications, estimates of materials and costs for construction Interpretation of construction drawings and schedules
• Ensuring SHEQ procedures are implemented and followed on site
• Implement & maintain SHE & Quality Management Systems in accordance with OH&S Act, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001Evaluate construction documents and ensure accordance to design plans and specifications drafted.
• Provide technical support to construction staff and design departments.
• Prepare project QC plans and documentation forms and evaluated them for quality.
• Perform quality audits on all areas of construction work, documented results and submitted it to Project Manager.
• Maintain all project manuals and documentation as required.
• Prepare a schedule of budget and assist in construction and develop ways to reduce cost of budget. Evaluate all project designs and recommend changes to improve project.
• Analyze and interpret drawings and specifications drafted and ensure that all Site Safety programs are followed in facility.
• Maintain all Quality Control logs and ensure that all changes made in drawings are followed in construction process.
• Ensured that project is in compliance with local building codes and permits.
