Electrical Engineer

Position Summary

• It is the electrical engineers responsibility to maintain an "Absolute Zero" safety environment for all employees, contractors, and other personnel within the area of all surface electrical and mechanical installations within the Ohio Valley Operations.
• The electrical engineer is responsible to provide electrical engineering support to ensure the safe, effective, and regulatory compliant installation and operation of all surface electrical power systems, surface ventilation equipment, and other surface support equipment and systems to meet the operational and production requirements of the Ohio Valley Operations

Target Responsibilities

• To ensure the safety rules, regulations, and guidelines are strictly followed by all employees and all electrical equipment and associated components are installed and maintained in a safe and regulatory compliant condition within the operations.
• To construct, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot power substations, power transmission lines, ventilation fans, monitoring systems, telephone lines, and other surface electrical and mechanical installations to ensure the safe, effective and productive operation and use of said equipment and installation within the operations.
• To supervise the electrical and mechanical construction and repairs for all electrical installations, ventilation fans, and other surface support equipment or systems within the operations.
• To develop contractor and manufacturer specifications packages for electrical equipment and electrical construction projects within the operations.
• To evaluate contractor and manufacturer proposals with Supply Chain Management personnel to effectively select the best contractor and/or equipment to safely and effectively provide for the electrical and mechanical requirements within the operations.
• To evaluate the surface electrical and mechanical systems to recommend improvements in safety, production, ergonomics and cost savings for the operations.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience is required.
• Must possess a valid West Virginia surface electrical certification
• Require a minimum of five (5) years of related experience in mining operations and electrical and mechanical construction and maintenance.
• Require thorough knowledge of coal mining operations; including safety, welding and fabrication, production, maintenance, economics, and equipment.
• Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
