Plant Supervisor

Position Summary

• Supervise a crew responsible for coal preparation, plant maintenance and/or coal loading in a safe and efficient manner.

Target Responsibilities

• Supervise crews responsible for efficient coal processing, cleaning and coal loading to meet customer specifications.
• May supervise prep plant and/or outside maintenance crews.
• Performs supervisory responsibilities such as goal setting, planning, training and performance evaluation.
• Conducts safety inspections and ensures that equipment is used in a safe and responsible manner.
• Communicates production schedules, changes and company policies and procedures to employees.
• Coordinates and communicates with other departments or shifts as needed to maintain an efficient and safe operation.
• Orders materials, parts & supplies as needed.
• May perform the duties of other operations, maintenance or prep plant supervisor.
• May perform the duties of Plant Superintendent or General Plant Supervisor as necessary.
• May coordinate coal quality and blending to ensure customer specifications.
• May supervise contract employees as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

• Requires High school diploma and 1-2 years of specialized training in electrical/mechanical systems and 3-5 years of related experience in mine operations, prep plant operations and electrical & mechanical maintenance, or an undergraduate degree in engineering, mining, electronics or a related field and/or 1-3 years of related experience.
• Requires knowledge of coal preparation plant operations; including safety, production, maintenance, economics, equipment usage and staff utilization.
• Requires supervisory and management skills and experience.
• Requires special certifications.
• Must possess effective verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of PLC programming is preferred.
