Structural Steel / Specialty Field Technician

Responsibilities:

• Structural steel/specialty field technician with steel/high strength bolt experience and certifications needed in the Baltimore [Hanover], MD office of[Company] . Duties include inspection and testing of structural steel during erection on general commercial building sites, as well as plant inspections. Experience with construction and structural steel erection and knowledge of AWS and AISC specifications desired. Addition certifications such as WACEL, PTI, NICET, NCDOT, ACI, UT, MT, RT, PT are a plus.
• Daily communication is required with site contractors, other technicians and project managers. Provided training: [Company] will train candidates in our methodology to perform observations, inspections and tests of building construction projects and to document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practice, but you should have a sound understanding of building construction practices. As experience increases, [Company] will encourage and aid technicians in increasing level of competence and skills through internal training programs and external programs of certification provided by ACI, ASNT, AWS, ICC, MARTCP, NICET, NRCA, RCI, State DOT, WACEL and others, as appropriate.
• Minimal travel outside the area. This is a full-time position with benefits, and there is no per diem as most projects are local to the office.

Qualifications:

• Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, required.
• Five years related experience required.
• AWS CWI and/or ICC Steel/High Strength Bolt certifications required.
• PTI, NICET, NCDOT, ACI, RT, PT or AWS Level I or II UT/MT certifications a plus.
• Welding experience a plus.

We will compensate you at $0.55/mile for use of your own vehicle for work related activities.
