Instrument Engineer

  • Our product line ranges from the smallest compact construction size to the largest mining size and includes hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, crawler dozers, off-highway trucks, motor graders, skid steer loaders, tractor loaders and backhoe loaders.

Position Purpose

  • Support and assist in the test validation process of off road machine products, including both field and lab testing, to determine the functionality, durability, and reliability of prototype designs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair in-house instrumentation and other electronic equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive instrument and test records database.
  • Setup, calibrate, and install data acquisition equipment and components on vehicles.
  • Install transducers and/or strain gages on test vehicles and test articles.
  • Perform small scale stress and performance testing under the supervision of Senior Engineering staff.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to solder and use electronic diagnostic equipment including: Oscilloscope, frequency generator and process calibrator.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel as well as ability to use special technical applications.
  • Good mechanical hands-on skills.
  • Must be self-motivated.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • Physical ability to work in adverse weather conditions, occasionally in remote locations to manage technical support on jobsite. This will commonly require walking on unpaved ground to review the assembly and inspection process of heavy equipment.
