Principal Ventilation Engineer - Brisbane

Specialist skills required
  • A sound understanding of the application of advanced network analysis to ventilation systems, including thermodynamic aspects. 
  • Experience in determining fan/system performance and specification of requirements in complex coal and metalliferous ventilation systems, including trouble shooting and problem solving. 
  • A thorough technical understanding of gas drainage in underground mines. 
  • A solid understanding of relevant computer software. Proficient in the use of VentSim. Use of other software, e.g. VUMA will be advantageous. 
  • Sound understanding of best practice mine ventilation standards. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders including management, technical professionals and operational personnel. 
  • An ability to work either independently or as part of a project team in a cooperative environment. 
  • An ability to write clear and concise reports.


Qualifications required
  • Tertiary mining engineering qualification or relevant underground mine ventilation qualification.
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in underground mine ventilation, refrigeration and cooling. 
  • Eligibility for membership of an industry recognised professional organisation.
