Position Summary
- The Program Management Office (PMO) is responsible for implementing Project Management best practices and procedures for the company. Responsibility includes program/project management skills, tools and processes and developing new business practices to achieve world class performance in the area of Program/Project management. Ensures projects executed by the Business PMO’s follow agreed upon practices and policies as set by the PMO council. Responsible for maintaining the approved policies, processes, and procedures commonly applied across all program/projects, as well as the centralized Project Administration support necessary to ensure consistent implementation.
Principal Duties
- Works closely with Program/Project Business Leads to identify and agree on gaps in tools or processes for the A&S Project Management Process.
- Develops an annual strategic plan outlining identified gaps in any of the A&S tools or processes and outlining possible solutions.
- Works closely with Business Project Leads to scope and get buy in for changes to processes and tools prior to beginning projects.
- In conjunction with the A&S Business Project Leads develops tools and processes that may further enhance the project management capability.
- Holds scheduled reviews with A&S Business PMO’s to give them updates on progress on each of their projects.
- Monitors all projects distributed to people within their organization to ensure that they are on scope, budget and time.
- Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. In this role, direct people management.
- Validates process repeatability; processes are well defined and yield consistent process results/outcomes.
- Deliver on agreed to capabilities for the support of the BU needs; reports, tools, training, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Project or Program management
- Leadership; knowledge of the process and the ability to drive improvement and performance
- Use of PM tools (MS Project, iP3M, SAP Project Systems, Sharepoint, etc.)
- Communications practices that engage the Project Leaders, Sponsors and other key stakeholders
- Change management skills
- Lean/Six Sigma knowledge to use appropriate tools to find and correct process issues
- PMP certification desired
