Job Description
- United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Shift Manager Blast Furnace Electrical Maintenance at our Great Lakes Works facility in Ecorse, MI.
- Leads and ensures safety and environmental activities and compliance. Apply electrical engineering principles and problem solving techniques to evaluate and resolve electrical conditions to maximize operating efficiencies. Utilize management skills to supervise, direct, and coordinate the efforts of experienced technicians, craftsmen and project planners to repair and maintain electrical equipment to keep the operations running at maximum efficiency with minimal interruption. Use technical knowledge and maintenance history of electrical equipment to develop and implement preventative maintenance program.
- Perform administrative activities such as scheduling crews, completing production reports, conducting safety conversations, and compiling other reporting as necessary by the operating facility.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or combination of education and experience.
- Bachelors preferred.
- Electrical maintenance experience with industrial machinery required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a maintenance supervisor/leader or electrical engineer or equivalent.
- Experience working in a steelmaking, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Experience as a Maintenance Supervisor working with equipment used to produce hot metal preferred.
- Prior experience directing and supervising a unionized workforce or similar military leadership experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills are critical.
- Good keyboard and computer skills.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts and weekends.
