Job Description:

• This position is to collect, analyze, and provide powertrain technical information and data about road profile, duty cycle, environmental conditions, and operating intelligence about customer applications to the organization.
• Visit customers on their job site to ride along with drivers to gather customer application information + data Utilize different tools, methods, and systems to collect, analyze, and report road profile, duty cycle, + environmental conditions data and general information to better understand customer applications. Provide Application Engineering Data, technical guidance, and expertise to all phases of product development (advanced engineering, industrialization, and maintenance projects) Build complete powertrain system knowledge and expertise with capability to analyze and interpret data Obtain and continue to hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) including periodic operation of vehicles to accumulate miles to meet internal requirements (a few days driving per month) Understand the performance and usage of various powertrain features through simulation results, vehicle testing, and customer visits for feature selection recommendations Translate “customer language” into “technical terms” and vice versa Meet w/ sales, marketing, + customers to understand the technical details to fulfill customer requirements Update Application Library and database with new customer road profile, duty cycle, environmental conditions, and application information Through mathematical and statistical methods and tools develop duty cycle definition and Application intelligence Be responsible to plan and schedule activities to meet project deliverables Participate in Design Review process Follow Application Engineering Processes Utilize the Global Transport Application network, guidelines, and standards Issue Engineering Reports Domestic and some international travel required Experience working in the field as a service engineer is a plus.
