Brief Description

  • This position is responsible for expediting the progress toward delivery and final completion of purchases from vendors for services, components, equipment and engineering on a timely basis. Completion requirements would be as established by the parameters of a given contract and deemed critical by the respective project manager.

Detailed Description

  • Specific expediting strategies: Determine specific expediting strategies for each assignment to assure that committed project schedules for equipment delivery are met.
  • Project expediting responsibilities: Act as primary project expeditor for specific project(s) in order to coordinate expediting activates to support the project delivery needs.
  • Identification and corrective action: Identify and correct any variances to work flow or schedules in either vendor or [Company] programs depending on nature of conflict or interface.
  • Communication: Communication of scheduler activity variances and corrective action
  • Records: Record and maintain expediting information in purchasing system with pertinent expediting records for each vendor.
  • Policy: Adhere to department policy and specific directives regarding expediting assignments.

Job Requirements

  • Purchasing: Overall departmental background, 2-4 years.
  • Expediting or purchase follow-up, 2-4 years.
  • Manufacturing: Scheduling/critical path, 2-4 years.
  • The above experience would preferably occur in an international environment for at least two years; however, exposure to any industry buying or fabricating heavy material handling or processing equipment is beneficial.
  • Business degree or engineering degree or equivalent experience.
